Known as “pasta chips,” this latest TikTok craze is created with cooked spaghetti that has been mixed with olive oil, parmesan cheese, and seasonings before being air fried till crispy. They come out wonderfully crispy, making them ideal for dipping in your favorite sauce for a delicious appetizer idea!
Ingredientssubstitutions
- Pasta: You may use whatever type of pasta you choose. Consider something long and broad that you can easily grip with your fingers and dip into your sauce. Rigatoni, bowtie, and penne are among of the most common options. Pasta chips made with olive oil: After you’ve cooked the pasta, you’ll want to mix it with a tablespoon of olive oil to help it crisp up in the air fryer. Parmesan cheese: While this is optional, the cheese enhances the flavor of the dish and becomes crispy when cooked in the air fryer. For example, soft cheeses that grate easily such as Gouda or fontina come to mind. Spices: You can add any spices you choose in this recipe. Garlic powder and Italian spice, as well as oregano, can be used to create an Italian-inspired flavor. Flavoring ingredients: feta cheese crumbles, Greek yogurt, garlic, and extra virgin olive oil You can substitute any other dip of your choosing
RECIPE VIDEO TUTORIAL
- Cook the pasta until it is al dente in a large saucepan of boiling salted water. Drain the pasta and place it in a big mixing dish or right back into the pot to finish cooking. Pour in the olive oil, parmesan cheese, and any seasonings you’re using
- Mix well. Toss well to incorporate and ensure that the pasta is evenly covered with the oil, cheese, and seasonings
- And Shake the basket a few times during the cooking process until the food is brown and crispy. Remove the items from the air fryer and set them aside to cool somewhat before serving.
How to make the whipped feta dip
- In a food processor or blender, combine the feta cheese, Greek yogurt, and garlic
- Process until smooth. Blend until it’s smooth and creamy, with no lumps, then set aside.
Tips for making the recipe
- Cook the pasta until it is al dente. Because the pasta will continue to cook in the air fryer, it is important not to overcook it and to err on the side of al dente. Don’t overdo it with the oil. This recipe for air fryer spaghetti chips is particularly appealing because it requires very little oil. 1 teaspoon or up to 1 tablespoon is plenty, and they will be wonderfully crispy as a result. Cook the spaghetti in batches to save time. According on the size of your air fryer basket, you may need to divide the pasta into two batches in order to avoid overcrowding, which can negatively impact the outcome of your dish
- Shake the air fryer basket a few times to distribute the oil. While frying the pasta chips, make careful to shake the basket often to ensure that all of the surface regions become crispy.

We independently choose these items, and if you make a purchase after clicking on one of our links, we may receive a commission. Photograph courtesy of Perry Santanachote Pasta chips are the hottest culinary trend on TikTok right now, thanks in large part to the widespread use of air fryers. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can still make spaghetti chips, but it will take longer. Instead of cooking the entire dish in batches in a smaller air fryer, you may cook the entire batch in one sitting in your oven.
What Are Pasta Chips Made Of?
Pasta chips are created from pasta noodles that have been cooked and then coated with oil and spices before being crisped in an oven or air fryer. To make gluten-free pasta chips, just substitute gluten-free spaghetti for regular pasta.
Best Type of Pasta for Pasta Chips
When making pasta, you’ll want to choose short spaghetti — something that can be simply dipped in and out of your mouth, similar to a chip — and avoid pasta that would typically take twisting to consume. Any of the following varieties are excellent choices: Photograph courtesy of Perry Santanachote
Dips to Serve with Pasta Chips
Basically any dip would pair nicely with pasta chips, which are both robust and versatile in that they may be seasoned to complement any accompanying ingredients. Here are a few suggestions. These spaghetti chips live up to the popular TikTok trend hype thanks to the addition of crab rangoon dip.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces dry farfalle pasta
- 1 ounce finely shredded Parmesan cheese (about 1/2 cup)
- 3 tablespoons neutral oil, such as canola or grapeseed
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Cooking spray
For the crab rangoon dip (optional):
- 1 small scallion
- 4 ounces whipped cream cheese
- 4 ounces lump crab meat, drained
- 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly crushed black pepper
- 1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce (optional)
- 1 small scallion
Instructions
- Prepare a big saucepan of salted water by bringing it to a boil. Farfalle pasta (eight ounces) should be added and cooked according to package directions until soft. Set a rack in the centre of the oven and preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit while you’re waiting. (Alternatively, preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.) 1 ounce (about 1/2 cup) Parmesan cheese, finely grated When the pasta is finished cooking, drain it and move it to a large mixing basin. Toss in 3 tablespoons neutral oil to coat the vegetables. Toss in the cheese, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes to coat the vegetables well. Use a rimmed baking sheet and spray it with cooking spray before adding the pasta and arranging it in a single layer so that the noodles do not touch each other. If you’re using an air fryer, prepare the air fryer basket with cooking spray and, working in batches if necessary, add the pasta, arranging it in a single layer so that the noodles don’t touch each other. Bake for 18 to 25 minutes, or air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, until the crust is crisp and golden. Allow for cooling to room temperature.
Make the crab rangoon dip:
- 1 small scallion, finely minced, should be placed in a medium-sized mixing basin. Blend together the 4 ounces of whipped cream cheese, 4 ounces of drained lump crab meat, 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper in a large bowl until well blended. Prepare and serve with pasta chips and crab rangoon dip, along with 1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce, if desired.

Parmesan Pasta Chips (Air Fryer or Oven)
Crispy carb fans will not want to miss this quick and simple recipe for Parmesan Pasta Chips, which can be made in your air fryer or oven in no time. Once again, the Internet has outdone itself! Pasta chips are the newest viral food trend to take the internet by storm. Yes, you read that correctly: “Yes, you read that correctly: Pasta chips that are hot, crispy, crunchy, and oh-so-cheesy. My version of this popular dish has bowtie pasta that’s been smothered in garlic and Parmesan cheese. It’s even better that this (surprise!) addictive snack may be prepared in either the oven or an air fryer.
How to Make Pasta Chips In the Oven
In the oven, pasta chips are just as easy to create as they are in the air fryer, with the only difference being that they take a little longer to bake. Here are the fundamentals:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread the cooked pasta in a single layer on a baking sheet. Baking for around 20 minutes, or until they are deep golden brown, should be sufficient.
How to Make Pasta Chips In an Air Fryer
When it comes to cooking these chips (and tri-tip and chicken nuggets and.! ), I’d go with the air fryer if I had my way. Because the air fryer cooks the chips more quickly (7 to 10 minutes instead of 30 minutes), they are crispier than they would be otherwise.
Can You Make These Without Parmesan?
Absolutely! If you like the concept of this crispy snack but don’t want to go the Parmesan way, feel free to omit the cheese and season them with your favorite extra flavors and spices instead of the cheese. There are a plethora of possibilities, ranging from ranch to barbecue to chipotle. Simply combine the dry spices with the olive oil and whisk until well combined, then follow with the recipe as given below. Do you want to know more? Never in a million years would you have imagined that the pasta we associate with wonderful Italian dinners could be converted into these golden brown crispy snacks?
And it more than lived up to the expectations!
What are Pasta Chips?
Pasta is pre-boiled before being seasoned with spices and herbs, and then either deep-fried or baked before being air-fried, resulting in this internet craze. To make them healthy, I bake or air fried them instead of frying them. However, they will end out wonderfully crispy with a smidgeon of noodle chew, regardless of how they are prepared. Aside from the fact that it is tasty and addictive, and that it is quite simple to create, all of the components are common household products. Consequently, you may prepare it whenever you have a need for a delightful yet healthy dessert.
Ingredients used
- Pasta: I experimented with two different varieties of pasta for this recipe: farfalle and rigatoni. My favorite thing about them is that they have fascinating forms and a lively look. Any form of short pasta, on the other hand, would work well. Choose from penne, fusilli, tortellini, or macaroni as your pasta choice. Oregano, basil, and thyme are some of the best Italian herbs to use in this dish. You may also use herbs such as rosemary or marjoram. Alternatively, you might have a good time by experimenting with other plants that you have available. Other seasonings include: Aside from using fresh herbs to flavor the pasta, I also used garlic powder, paprika powder, salt and pepper to season the dish. However, you are free to be inventive and use additional spices in this recipe. Vegan parmesan: adds a cheesy, salty taste to the pasta! If you want to try something different, nutritional yeast is an option. Olive Oil: This aids in the adhesion of the seasoning and herbs to the pasta as well as the browning and crisping of the chips in the air fryer or oven.
How to make Pasta Chips
As is often the case, I urge that you first review this step-by-step guide.
Then, on the recipe card below, you’ll find the complete recipe, complete with accurate quantities!
Step 1: Boil and season pasta
Beginning with the pasta, cook it to al dente in salted water according to the package directions. After that, drain the water and put it in a basin. Combine the spices, vegan parmesan, and olive oil in a large mixing bowl.
Step 2: Bake until crispy!
Then, put the spaghetti on a baking sheet coated with parchment paper, ensuring sure they are not overlapping or touching one another, and bake for 17-20 minutes at 392°F (200°C), or until golden brown. Alternatively, cook for 10-12 minutes at 180°C (350°F) in a preheated air fryer for 10-12 minutes, shaking halfway through.
Tips for making crispy pasta chips
- Follow the directions on the package and cook the pasta until it is just al dente. It is important not to overcook them since they will not crisp up nicely. Make certain that the pasta has been thoroughly drained before adding the oil and spices. This will guarantee that the seasoning stays to the pasta and that the spaghetti is more tasty and crisp when it is finished. Use only as much oil as is absolutely necessary. The beauty of these air fryer or baked pasta chips is that they require less oil than deep-frying, making them a healthier alternative to deep-frying. Keep the amount of spaghetti chips you put in your air fryer or baking sheet to a minimum. Depending on the size of your group, you may want to cook in batches. If you’re using an oven, make sure the pasta has adequate space between it and the other spaghetti so that it cooks evenly. It is possible that you may need to change the cooking and baking times based on the size and shape of the pasta you will be using. Make careful to let them to cool completely before serving so that they crisp up even more.
Can I deep-fry them?
Absolutely! You may fry pasta chips in a deep fryer or in a saucepan filled with oil to make them crispy. Make sure you drain the pasta completely before combining it with the spices. Heat the oil to 350°F and fry the potatoes for 1-2 minutes, or until brown and crisp.
How to make Pasta Chips Gluten-free?
Simply substitute brown rice pasta, maize pasta, chickpea pasta, quinoa pasta, or any other gluten-free pasta brand of your choice for standard pasta. As is always the case, I recommend that you prepare them according to the directions on the package.
How to store Pasta?
- Pasta Chips: This snack is best consumed just out of the air-fryer or oven after it has been cooked. It is possible that eating them at a later period will not provide you with the same sharpness. In the event that you have any leftover fried or baked pasta chips, make certain that they have totally cooled before storing them in an airtight container or sealed container. Ideally, it should last for at least two to three days. Preparing the Pasta Ahead of Time: If you are cooking the pasta ahead of time, drain the pasta and mix it with the spices and olive oil. Then store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to five days. Uncooked pasta:Dry, uncooked pasta may be stored for up to a year in a cold, dry location such as a pantry or a refrigerator. Dry pasta should be kept in an airtight container or box to ensure that it retains its freshness. Labeling your stored pasta would be extremely beneficial in determining which spaghetti should be cooked first.

Pasta Chips
These air fryer spaghetti chips, which have gone viral, are a fantastic snack idea. Their texture and flavor are superior to ordinary potato chips, and they are just as addicting. TikTok appears to be a fan of the latest pasta craze. Air fryer pasta chips have replaced baked feta spaghetti as a favorite snack.
I recently made these for myself and wanted to share the recipe with you since they’re crispy, delicious, and a great snack option for the kids. The idea of frying pasta in the air fryer never occurred to me, but I’m so glad I did because these pasta chips are very flavorful and really addictive.
Can I Bake Pasta Chips?
However, if you don’t have access to an air fryer, you may bake them in a conventional oven; however, they will not be as crispy. Simply bake at 400°F for approximately 20 minutes. When I tried it in my oven, I used the convection setting (which is comparable to that of an air fryer), and it worked, but the pasta chips were definitely not as crispy as they should have been.
Ingredients Needed:
- Pasta– any type of pasta will suffice, although there are some forms that work better than others. Farfalle or penne are excellent choices. If necessary, gluten-free spaghetti can be substituted. You simply need a small amount of olive oil
- I definitely recommend include grated parmesan cheese in this recipe since it enhances the flavor of the chips tremendously. You should try myvegan parmesan if you are vegan or dairy-free. spices– Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and sea salt are the appropriate ingredients for the pasta chips. marinara sauce– to be used as a dip
As long as you have all of the ingredients on hand, making these air-fried spaghetti chips is a breeze. Simply follow the directions in the recipe below.

Pasta Chips
- These air-fried macaroni chips, which have gone viral, are a fantastic snack idea. Their texture and flavor are superior to ordinary potato chips, and they are just as addicting. Preparation time: 10 minutes Approximately 10 minutes of cooking time Time allotted: 20 minutes Servings12
- 8oz pasta (I used farfalle for this recipe)
- 3/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian spice
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or granules
- 1 1/2 teaspoon olive oil, plus more to taste a half-cup of marinara sauce for dipping
- Make sure to cook the pasta according to the package directions, until it is al dente. There is no need to rinse after draining
- Cooked pasta should be combined with olive oil, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and sea salt in a large mixing dish. Toss until everything is well-coated. Placing the seasoned pasta in a single layer in your air fryer and air cooking on 400°F for 10 minutes or until the pasta is lovely and golden brown and crispy is a good way to describe it. While the pasta is cooking, toss it once or twice more. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to perform this in several batches at a time. Although I did put the entire amount in my air fryer, the process took 20 minutes rather than 10 minutes. Once the pasta chips are cooked, take them from the air fryer and set them aside to cool before serving. They’re very good when served with marinara sauce.

Pasta: For this dish, I used rigatoni pasta, which I found at my local grocery store. It is possible, however, to use any form of pasta that you choose! When picking pasta, look for shapes that are simple to pick up with your fingers. If you want to get really creative, you could even make your own handmade shaped pasta. Just be sure to cook the noodles before putting them in the air fryer to prevent them from sticking.
How to Make Air Fryer Pasta Chips
Start by cooking the spaghetti noodles until they are al dente and preheating the air fryer to 400°F before beginning to make the appetizer. After that, line the basket or rack of your air fryer with a single layer of noodles and cook until crisp. Working in batches may be necessary depending on the size of your air fryer in order to avoid the spaghetti from overlapping.

What are pasta chips?
Essentially, deep-fried pasta is transformed into golden brown “chips” by the cooking process. Making them in the air fryer is a quick and easy way to have a warm and crunchy snack when you’re craving something warm and crunchy. The spaghetti may be any form or size, but bigger ones that can be picked up and dipped are the best. Despite the fact that spaghetti chips are now popular, they have really been around for quite some time now. It’s at least 2013 that crispy crunchy spaghetti chips have been available on the internet.
What do pasta chips taste like?
For those of you who enjoy the crispy edges of lasagna, spaghetti chips are going to be your new favorite snack food. In the centre, there’s a small bit of pasta texture, which makes them crispy and crisp. Their flavor is similar to the crispy edges of lasagna or the small macaroni pieces that rise to the top of a cooked macaroni and cheese. As a lover of the edges of lasagna, I am a sucker for these chips.
How to make pasta chips
- Prepare the pasta. Using salted water, cook the pasta until al dente according to the package directions. Drainage should be adequate. Toss. Combine the pasta with a little olive oil, grated parmesan, and seasoning, tossing thoroughly to ensure that every piece of spaghetti is covered. Fry in the air. Cooking the pasta in batches in a lightly oiled air fryer basket at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, shaking the pan or turning regularly, until golden brown and crisp
- Prepare a few dips. Alternatively, you may reheat up some bottled tomato sauce to use as a dipping sauce
- Both options are delicious. Remove the pasta chips from the basket and let them aside to cool somewhat, allowing them to crisp up even more. Dip, eat, and repeat the process
Ingredients
- Pappardelle – You can use any type of pasta you like, but the best would be bigger pasta that you can grip onto and hold like a chip while still having enough surface area for dipping. Oil– A neutral oil is excellent for this application
- Don’t go busting out your extremely expensive extra virgin olive oil just yet. I made use of grapeseed oil. Parmesan– Parmesan provides a ton of umami and cheesiness to dishes, and it also becomes quite crispy and crunchy when cooked. Seasonings– Feel free to get creative and season to your heart’s content. Using only parmesan and garlic, I kept it basic. I’ve included some more seasoning recommendations below.
What kind of pasta can I use for pasta chips?
You may use any big spaghetti that you can grasp hold of and use to scoop up the sauce. Here are a few suggestions:
- Penne, ziti, rigatoni, fusilli, farfalle/bow ties, paccheri, shells, scoobi-doo/cavatappi, and any other unusual forms you come across, such as this trottole:
Pasta chips seasonings
- To season, use salt and pepper to your liking. Spicy: 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (as seen in the photo)
- A half teaspoon of garlic powder, half teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of ginger powder
- Italian seasonings include 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon dried basil, 1/4 teaspoon dry oregano, 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley, and 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme. 1 teaspoon each buttermilk powder, dried parsley, dry dill, and onion powder

- 1 teaspoon each buttermilk powder, onion powder, and garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon each sour cream and onion
What kind of dip do I serve with pasta chips?
- Whipped ricotta– Whipped ricotta is one of my favorite things. THE BEST dip, especially when served with crunchies for dipping. SO fluffy, SO creamy, and THE BEST dip. The recipe calls for 3/4 cup whole milk ricotta, which should be blended until extremely smooth and creamy. Extra virgin olive oil is drizzled over the dish after seasoning with salt and pepper. To finish it off, throw in some roasted tomatoes and you’ve got yourself a winner
- Dipped with tomato sauce– I have a fantastic recipe for pizza-style tomato sauce that would be ideal for dipping here. You may even heat up some of your favorite bottled sauce if you want to save time. It’s a marriage made in heaven when it comes to pesto and crunchy spaghetti chips. Bolognese– A smidgeon of hearty, delicious bolognese is served here. Ranch dressing–Homemade ranch dressing is far superior to store-bought dressing, although even store-bought dressing is quite tasty.
