This is a recipe for ground beef hamburger sauce from my sister Svetlana. She cooks it for camping every year, using an original Prego sauce that she grew up with. This recipe may be made with either homemade marinara sauce or your favorite store-bought marinara sauce. Many people have asked me for her renowned beef sauce recipe, and now you can have it too! This dish is a close competitor to Olive Garden’s spaghetti with meat sauce.

Which Pasta for Meat Sauce?

The beauty of this dish is that it may be served with any type of pasta of your choice. Meat sauce for pasta is generally served with spaghetti, but it is also delicious served with any of the following dishes:

It’s easy to find the ingredients for this meat sauce recipe in your pantry, and we usually have a supply of ground beef in the freezer for those nights when we don’t have a lot of time to put up dinner. Cooking with a single pot or dutch oven is really simple, and it doesn’t get any easier than this. Seriously, the finest beef sauce you’ll ever taste!

  • Place the frozen beef sauce in the refrigerator overnight to allow it to slowly defrost. For a camping trip, place the frozen beef sauce in a cooler filled with ice and allow it to defrost overnight, just as you would in a refrigerator.

Simmering on the stove top, this spaghetti meat sauce reminds me that there is no greater smell in the world than the perfume of spaghetti sauce simmering away on the stove.

I appreciate the ease of a bottled marinara sauce, but there are times when you want a handmade, complete comfort food meal.

The perfect supper dish to cook when you have a little extra time on your hands and simply want some wonderful classic comfort food, this one is for you.

What You’ll Need

To prepare this homemade spaghetti sauce recipe, you’ll need a few simple items, such as canned tomatoes, dry herbs, ground beef, and garlic, to get started. Ground Beef- You may use any type of ground beef you like. You will be able to remove the surplus oil from it, so it does not matter what percentage of fat you choose to utilize. I always use 93/7 ground beef in my recipes. Sweet Onion- I’ve found that using a sweet onion works best for this dish. However, you are free to use either a white or a yellow onion.

  • Fresh garlic cloves should be minced or pressed.
  • Alternatively, garlic paste from a tube (this is what I use!).
  • When I make it, I simply eyeball it, but if you want a specific measurement, it is around 1.5 cups of crushed tomatoes.
  • To make a less chunky spaghetti sauce, combine the ingredients in a blender and mix until desired consistency is reached.
  • As well as for me, as I am not a major lover of tomato pieces.
  • Basil leaves that have been dried Fresh oregano is one of my favorite dry spices to use in recipes because I never have fresh spices on hand and don’t want to spend a premium on them at the grocery store.

In a frying pan over medium-high heat, brown and crumble the ground beef with the onion, garlic, and salt until the meat is browned and crumbled. When the meat is no longer pink, remove it from the heat and drain the extra fat. In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the remaining ingredients, alternating between tomato sauce and crushed or diced tomatoes. Season with basil, oregano, and salt and pepper. Using a whisk, mix all of the ingredients.

Bring the spaghetti sauce to a low boil, stirring constantly.

To Cook the Best Spaghetti We Have a Few Simple Tricks
