Making pasta in my Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker has proven to be a satisfying experience for me. Every time I make pasta, it comes out flawlessly, which is what I prefer. As the Instant Pot “Scullery Maid,” I knew I had to try an Instant Pot dish because she is the Instant Pot Queen and I am the Instant Pot “Queen.” This week, I prepared her Tuna Noodle Casserole, Grandma’s Mac n’ Cheese, and Bow Tie Pasta (all of which were beginner recipes!). Although they were all excellent and simple to prepare, the creamy bowtie pasta was the clear winner, as the entire family “devoured” it! It was a joke, of course!

Ingredients for Bow-Tie Pasta

Rebecca was inspired to make this bow-tie spaghetti by a Disney Cruise Line dinner she enjoyed while on vacation – the ingredients are straightforward:

  • BOW-TIE PASTA| You may use standard or small Bow-Tie Pasta, often known as farfalle, but you can also use penne or linguine if you like. If you know me, you know that I despise mushrooms for a variety of reasons, the most notable of which is their texture. However, I really adore their flavor, so regardless of whether or not you despise mushrooms, pluck them out like I do and enjoy the flavor! In this dish, I used baby Portabella mushrooms, but any type of mushroom would do
  • SUN-DRIED TOMATOES| I believe Rebecca used sun-dried tomatoes in oil, but I happened to have some shelf-stable sundried tomatoes on hand, so I used them instead. Either way, they were delicious! Make julienne (cutting in strips) ahead of time if you’re using entire vegetables. CHICKEN BROTH| This adds a lot of flavor, but if you’re trying to keep vegetarian, you may substitute water or veggie broth. HEAVY CREAM| You may use HalfHalf for the heavy cream
  • The sauce will not be as creamy and will not thicken as much, but it will work. I normally would not use fat-free cream or half-and-half, but if you want to indulge a little, go ahead. PROSECCO| An Italian sparkling wine, you may substitute any dry sparkling wine or dry white wine if you choose not to use alcohol
  • If you prefer not to use alcohol, you can substitute more broth or water. Garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper are used for chopped garlic and onion in this dish. PARMESAN CHEESE| You can use grated, shredded, or shaved, or you can use Romano cheese instead.

These gadgets will make this dish a little simpler to create, but they are not required, with the exception of the Instant Pot.

  • Here’s the 6 quart Instant Potour family of four uses, which I continue to enjoy! If I had to make a purchase today, I would choose this one because it comes with an air fryer cover! Alternatively, you may purchase the air fryer lid separately. Pipettes| I particularly use Pyrex Measuring cups for my liquid measurements since they clean up beautifully
  • Solid Wooden Spoon| A solid wooden spoon is essential for sautéing and stirring when cooking. Pasta Bowls| Although pasta bowls are not required, they may make eating pasta more enjoyable and a bit less difficult.

How to Make Instant Pot Pasta with Cream

This bow tie pasta dish comes together fast and effortlessly if you measure, prep, and cut all of your ingredients ahead of time, as I usually do. What if you don’t have an Instant Pot? Continue reading for stovetop instructions.

  • Set the Instant Pot (IP) to the “Saute” setting and allow it to heat until the “HOT” indicator lights up. Using an immersion blender, add butter or olive oil and let it to melt. Then add chopped mushrooms and cook until soft, a few minutes. Turn off the Internet Protocol (IP). When you pour in broth (or water) and scrape the bottom of the pan to loosen any particles, you are deglazing the pan
  • This is referred to as deglazing the pan.
  • Stir in the garlic, pepper, onion powder, heavy cream, and Prosecco until everything is well combined. Pour in the bow tie pasta and gently push it down with a wooden spoon until it is uniformly distributed and the majority of it is submerged in the liquid
  • Close the IP lid, lock and secure it (close the vent), then select Manual/Pressure from the drop-down menu. Cook for 4 minutes on medium heat. It takes around 5 minutes to reach pressure
  • After that, allow for a 4-5 minute natural release (which may be longer if at altitude), and then carefully release the remaining steam. The pasta will be more al dente as a result. As the sauce cools, add the sundried tomatoes and Parmesan cheese
  • The sauce will thicken more as it sits. Add some chopped Italian parsley or fresh basil, if preferred, to finish.

High Altitude Instant Pot Pasta

For those of us who live at higher elevations, the Instant Pot can be a little more difficult to use.

I reside in the Mile High City and find that I need to add an additional 1-2 minutes to my cooking time. Nonetheless, for this recipe, I reduced the cooking time to 4 minutes and let the dish to rest for an extra 1 minute during the natural release time period.

  • In a large saute pan, heat 2 tablespoons butter over medium high heat until melted. Add the mushrooms to the pan and season with salt and pepper
  • Sauté for 4-6 minutes, or until the mushrooms are soft and browned. Deglaze pan with chicken stock, scraping up any browned pieces (= taste!) from the bottom of the pan
  • Stir in Prosecco, garlic, pepper, and onion powder
  • Cook until Prosecco is bubbling. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the cream has barely thickened — do not bring to a boil. Continuously whisk in the Parmesan cheese, whisking constantly, until the cheese has completely melted. In a separate bowl, combine the sun-dried tomatoes and season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked and drained bowtie pasta with the sauce until everything is coated. Serve immediately.

As someone who cannot leave a recipe alone, here are some suggestions for optional add-ins to this delectable bow tie pasta recipe that you may find useful.

  • MEAT| I cooked a couple chicken breasts that I marinated in a simple Italian dressing and sliced and put on top, but this would also be excellent with shrimp, Pancetta, or just Rotisserie chicken
  • VEGETABLES| RUB| Drizzling a little balsamic glaze on top of the pasta or chicken (or both) provides a gorgeous finishing touch that also happens to be delicious
  • Veggies| Experiment with other vegetables
  • Artichoke hearts, for example, would be a delicious addition to this Tuscan recipe. Eggplant, spinach (which should be added at the very end), and even peas would be wonderful additions. Sauté some fresh garlic and 1/2 an onion, thinly sliced, or red bell peppers with the mushrooms until the garlic is fragrant. It would also be nice to toss in some sliced green, black, or Kalamata olives or capers as well. Add more cheese with shaved Parmesan or Romano cheese on top of the dish.

HOW TO MAKE CREAMY BOW TIE PASTA

This pasta dish is so simple to put together and requires so few ingredients that it is a go-to supper for many people. STEP ONE: To begin, cook the pasta to your desired al denteness. THE SECOND STEP – While the pasta is cooking, prepare your bacon according to your preference. I normally cook bacon in the oven, but I’ve been experimenting with the air fryer lately. STEP THREE –In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the cream cheese, butter, and Italian seasoning at room temperature until well combined.

Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

STEP FOUR –Ladle the sauce over the cooked pasta and sprinkle with crumbled bacon and Parmesan cheese to finish. Although the bacon and Parmesan are salty, you can season the dish with salt and pepper if you feel it needs it.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

  • The fact that this spaghetti is so simple to make with only a few ingredients means that it will become a go-to supper for many of us. COOK THE PASTA FIRST: First and foremost, cook the pasta to your desired level of doneness. THE SECOND STEP – While the pasta is boiling, prepare the bacon according to your preference. In the past, I’ve cooked bacon in the oven, but recently, I’ve started experimenting with the air fryer. STEP THREE –In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the room temperature cream cheese, butter, and Italian seasoning. Using a hand mixer, smooth out the mixture, then slowly stream in the milk until it is completely incorporated. *** Allow 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth. STEP FOUR –Ladle the sauce over the cooked pasta and sprinkle with crumbled bacon and Parmesan cheese to garnish. Even though the bacon and Parmesan are already salty, you can season it with salt and pepper to taste if you think it’s needed.

HOW TO STORE LEFTOVERS

It is not always possible to freeze a creamy pasta sauce; therefore, I recommend storing the sauce in the refrigerator in an airtight container and using it within a few days of making it. You may reheat the dish in the microwave (at 50% power) or on the stovetop.

This Italian Sausage Bow Tie Pasta is quick and simple to prepare! Something about it reminds me of a dish you could receive at an Italian restaurant. With plenty of chopped spinach and bits of spicy or sweet Italian sausage, this Italian Sausage Bow Tie Pasta is rich and filling. It is made with precisely cooked pasta in a creamy tomato sauce with plenty of chopped spinach.

Recipe for Italian Sausage Bow Tie Pasta

  • The following ingredients: bow tie pasta, olive oil, Italian sausage, red pepper flake seasoning, onion, garlic, Italian-style plum tomatoes, heavy cream, spinach, and fresh parsley

How to make Bow Tie Pasta and Italian Sausage recipe:

  1. Prepare a big saucepan of water by bringing it to a boil. Preparing the pasta according to the package directions and draining it Cook and crumble the sausage with the red pepper flakes in a large pan with the olive oil over medium-high heat, stirring often, until the sausage is cooked through and browned. Toss in the onion and garlic. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent. Combine the tomatoes and heavy cream in a large mixing bowl. Is there no heavy cream? For every 1 cup of heavy cream, melt 1/4 cup of butter and slowly whisk in 3/4 cup milk, until the mixture is smooth and creamy. The majority of recipes that call for heavy cream will turn out well using this method, although firm peaks will not be achieved. Leftovers are delicious reheated for lunch the following day.
